3G Lighting Product Catalogue

wedesign group

planning / design / production

Without a doubt the largest project I have ever worked on, and damn proud of it.

One of my first assignments at wedesign group was helping to put together the beginning stages of what would become the 3G Lighting Product Catalogue. I worked on all the product pages and feature spreads of this almost 500 page catalogue. After almost an entire year, the catalogue has gone to print, and it looks marvelous.

A homage to an old Disco poster to support the Dancing with the Docs event.

Dancing with the Docs was a local fundraising dance competition in Peterborough to support the PRHC Foundation's Closer Campaign. wedesign group was asked if they wanted to donate their services in support of the event, and I was tasked with putting together a poster that would capture the events theme, Disco Fever. An estimated $60,000 was raised and 304 people attended the event.

The Quiet Life Exhibit

Seneca College

environmental design project

A fictional Art Exhibition showcasing the work of Andy Mueller's The Quiet Life.

This was a fun assignment where we got to create a series of advertisements for any artist we desired. I grew up adoring a lot of the artwork done for skateboarding companies such as Girl and Chocolate, so I chose to showcase the work of Andy Mueller, while throwing in some "featured artists" such as Geoff McFetridge.

Some of my projects for Trent University include pocketbooks, fair booth displays, presentation videos, achievement reports, and more.

I worked on a number of concepts for the 2010 Fair Booth for Trent University. Once Trent settled on the final designs with wedesign group, I provided a 3D rendering of the show floor to help with planning the layout and aesthetics of the booth. Over the course of a year, I had the opporunity to help with multiple other projects for Trent University, most of which can be seen below.

Redesigning the Kraft Salad Dressing bottles + label for the 2009 PAC Competition.

Forming a group of six students, each member begins concept work for a sustainable re-design of Kraft Salad Dressings. Ultimately, all members were able to work together to create a truly outstanding solution to a very foreign and complicated design problem. Work shown is that of myself and Cindy Xiaoxia Sun.

Refreshing new business cards for the Art Gallery of Peterborough.

When asked to do up some concepts for a new business card for the Art Gallery of Peterborough, I couldn't resist taking inspiration from their distinct angle-cut signage. The result is a die-cut business card that fits perfectly alongside their existing branding.

design history project

A lovely re-creation of an untitled painting from 1924 by De Stijl artist Vilmos Huszar.

Being a bit of a De Stijl nut, I went after Vilmos Huszar as my artist of choice for this Design History Project. This was done using Adobe Illustrator and printed on 18" x 24" stretched canvas. Okay, so it wasn't actually printed on canvas, but, you know… that would have been pretty cool, right?

Peterborough Arts Week

Promotional material for the annual Peterborough Arts Week.

Each year, Peterborough hosts a week long downtown Art Exhibition to showcase the work of its local talent. Every year is a little different, but they like to provide everyone with an outline of all the events that take place during that week, as well as promote the event with posters that get put up around the city.

Volkwagen Annual Report 2009

Seneca College

production design project

This was a 24-page Annual Report project with an emphasis on solid Production.

Our challenge for this project was to create a strong and compelling Annual Report that could go to Production without any catastrophes. I am happy to report that there were 0 explosions in the printing of this Report. I should also report that I am in no way affiliated with Volkswagen. This was a student project. I have never worked for Volkswagen, spoken to anyone at Volkswagen, or even driven a Volkswagen.

Logitech Product Campaign

Seneca College

production design project

Choose any company with a new line of products and design a promotional campaign.

The first challenge was to find a marketing approach that would resonate with the intended audience. The slogan ‘Going Beyond’ was created alongside billboards which featured Logitech products extending beyond the frame of the advertisement. That marketing concept was then adapted and applied to both a direct mailer and product manual.
